Real Talk // Posted July 13, 2017
Summertime. Warm afternoons, soft glow evenings that seem to go on forever. Smells of barbecues, fire pits and sunscreen. The mood is always good, we feel motivated to do things thanks to that extra vitamin D. I love summer, but it also is a weird time for business. A time for reflection. I see a pattern in my life…Summer always brings change. New clients come, loyal clients drop, and I feel like searching for personal growth. I have a mix of emotions and sometimes its confusing. I want to take a minute and share these inner feelings because I know that I can’t hide these emotions.
If you don’t know me, what you see is what you get. I value genuine authenticity and sometimes that can come off a little crusty. I know I’m moody and my clients experience it every time they walk through the door. Some days I’m super happy and talkative, while other days I’m quiet and short with my conversation. It’s not personal ladies, I want you to know that. I love seeing you and being able to give you something that changes your life. I know it changes your life, because it changes mine.
Lashes are a funny thing. While to some it can seem a shallow beauty treatment, it is so far from that. It boosts confidence, morale and motivation. A Lash Appointment (or even brows) is time for relaxation. I often hear women say there is no other place they can fall asleep so soundly and actually relax. My favorite thing is when you fall asleep because that tells me you feel comfortable. Quiet days are because I really need to focus on my work, talking distracts me and it also makes my work less thorough. It’s not because I don’t care about you or your life, or that I’m not excited about my life. If we talk, you can’t relax and I can’t accomplish my best. I take my art very seriously.
I do realize though, sometimes talking is therapeutic. I cherish conversations that are real. Deep. Meaningful. Conversations that make a difference in psyche. Those are times I open up. I’m best at listening though, offering advice when I feel it can make a difference. Over the years, we’ve had some great conversations and I deeply feel connected to the ladies who’ve trusted me with their face (and their mind.)
If you’re still reading, thank you. I’m not really sure why I’m writing this. I guess because in my reflections, I want my clients to know I appreciate them and want to thank them for allowing me to create and live out my goals and aspirations in life. When summer comes and loyal clients decide to no longer see me, I have a mini anxiety attack wondering Was it me? Was it something I said? or Didn’t say? I start thinking back at what I could have done better. Even though I know logically, most cases are because of personal reasons…money, time, or even they just want to try someone else. Which is totally fine!!! I really don’t mind. Go to who you feel comfortable with, if that’s your reason. Anywho…I have a lot going on in my mind right now so basically all I want to say is whether current clients or old, thank you. I hope that this helps you understand me a little better and what drives our interactions. You’ve made a difference in my life, and I only pray that I’ve made a difference for the better in yours.
To many more summer evenings basking in the sun, enjoying a nice cold craft beer (or wine…whatever floats your boat) I truly send you good vibes and hope you enjoy those waterproof lashes and brows ;)
love you dames
