POSTED NOVEMBER 1, 2015: STUDIO FEMME 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

I’m a little late on this, but unveiling a new chapter in my business can be scary but very exciting at the same time! October 20th marked 5 years in business!!!! On October 20, 2010 I embarked on a life changing venture and fulfilled a childhood dream of being an entrepreneur. With the help of family and friends I opened Studio Femme for business. Operating as Femme Lash Spa, the last 5 years have been an amazing experience and I’ve grown in so many ways. No doubt a large part of being where I am is because of my totally awesome clients who have been with me through thick and thin. So I want to say a big THANK YOU right away! There are not enough words to express my gratitude for your loyalty and support.

I want to express in this post what these 5 years has meant for me. In the beginning, I was determined to succeed so I knew I’d still be in business 5 years later. At that time, though, I had different visions of what it would be today. I had the ambition of having a full service day spa with employees and a commercial space. But it didn’t take long for me to realize I really liked keeping it simple. I truly loved doing lashes and I didn’t want to pass that off to an employee who just worked for the paycheck. I had real relationships with my clients and they came to me because of that (they also loved their lashes ;) but the whole experience was one big package). I work from home so the comfort and care that comes from that personal touch really is something I want to hold on to. Obviously, it’s not just business. It’s personal.

This business of lashes really fits my personality. It enables me to be artistic, to help others feel good about themselves, to make money and pay the bills doing something that I love, and feel accomplished. This work also allows me to continue my lifelong dedication as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses to help others know what the Bible really teaches and how it can benefit their life. My career has always come second to that. Another reason I really enjoy keeping things simple. It’s a Bible Principle that has benefited me greatly! I really felt confident in my career choice in 2010 and I feel it has been a blessing. I love what I do and that is why I’ve held onto it despite my body’s limitations. This year was supposed to be great…5 years in business AND 5 years married to the love of my life! BUT 2015 has sucked haha it has not been nice to my husband and I. We’ve both had health problems preventing us from enjoying some great plans. We made the best of it though and we will come out of it stronger (mentally) and more mature.

But alas change is always inevitable and although I didn’t necessarily get here by choice, I’m super stoked to be moving forward and amalgamating my interests as once planned so many years ago. My husband and I chose STUDIO FEMME as the business name, leaving room for expansion. STUDIO can encompass so many things and the time has come for it to do just that. The last few months has taught me a lot about working with limitations and getting down to the basics. The basics include why I got into lashes in the first place. ART. So, without going into TOO much detail, here is the newly revamped business plan!

As you can see, artistry and decor have been added to the studio! Furniture refinishing, handmade home decor pieces and crafting will all be included in this new endeavor. I will incorporate my art into as many of these things as possible too. I would love to say I have a bunch of things ready right now, but I can’t lol I have a long list of  projects on the way, my deck is full of furniture pieces ready to be revamped, and I’ve been getting things ready. I just simply have not made the time to work on this up until now. November here I come! More details will follow over the next several weeks. Please follow my Instagram account @studiofemme to keep up with everything and I thank you again for your support, for listening, and for being awesome!

Lots of Love!
