LASH LIFT FAQ
HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?
Depending on the length and health of your natural lashes, the procedure takes about 45-60 minutes with a tint.
HOW IS A LASH LIFT DIFFERENT FROM A LASH PERM?
With Elleebana lash lift, lashes are lifted from the root to give that just curled look rather than curling at the tips to create the illusion of longer, thicker lashes.
WHO IS A CANDIDATE?
Anyone who loves their natural lashes and wants to enhance them. There are some contraindications and that can be discussed with your lash artist.
WHAT IS THE APPLICATION PROCESS?
The process is relaxing in nature. After you lie down on the table, your lash artist will cover your lower lashes with a soothing gel pad to protect your lower lashes during the application. You then relax with your eyes closed.
Based on the size of your lashes, we will choose the appropriate silicone pad size to “lift” your lashes and apply lash adhesive which is water soluble. The specialist will then brush back the lashes so they attach to the silicone pad and apply the specialized eyelash activating solution. Depending on the size and shape of your lashes, the activation solution will sit on your lashes from 6-10 minutes. The activator is then removed with a conditioning neutralizer solution which will sit on your lashes for 5 minutes. Q-tips with water will then be used to remove product and pads. Usually a tint will follow.
CAN ELLEEBANA LASH LIFT BE USED TO COMPLIMENT OTHER TREATMENTS?
Yes! It is enhanced when you use an eyelash growth product. While your lashes grow longer, our process controls straight or overly curly lashes by giving them a uniform lifted look. Eyelash tinting can also be applied during the treatment to enhance the look of your Elleebana lash lift. If you have lighter lashes or just want to make your dark lashes richer, you may want to get your eyelashes (brows) tinted along with your lash lift. Our tint is a special dye applied to your lashes to give them a darker color.
IS THE PROCEDURE SAFE?
Yes. Lashes are lifted onto our specially shaped lifting silicone pads before products are applied so no solutions will be touching your skin. A water soluble and gentle adhesive is used to attach the rod. A patch test of the adhesive and solutions can be done 72 hours before if you have sensitive skin. This is at your discretion. Elleebana lash lift should only be performed by a certified lash specialist.
WILL THIS SERVICE DAMAGE MY NATURAL LASHES?
When performed by a carefully trained and skilled professional, the lash lift procedure will not damage your natural lashes. We treat your lashes with the utmost care and proper technique.
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF A LASH LIFT?
The lash lift solutions never touch the skin during the process. Redness around the eye may occur due to the product removal process (wiping eyes with pads), but should disappear within a few minutes after the procedure.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY LASHES?
Immediately after the procedure avoid steam for 24 hours and discontinue the use of lash growth products for 48 hours. After 24 hours, exposure to steam will not affect your lashes and after 48 hours you can resume the use of eyelash growth products. Mascara can be applied after 24 hours.
What is Henna?
Henna is not a new product to the world. The art of henna or known to the Hindu people as Mehndi has been a method of body design for over 5,000 years. Originally used in hot or desert countries such as the Middle East, India and Africa as a method of cooling down their bodies as the Henna plant contains natural cooling properties. Henna was also a well-known method of dying fabrics such as silks, wool and leather.
The Henna plant (Lawsonia Inermis), also referred to as the Henna Tree, Mignonette Tree, the Hina or the Egyptian Privet, is a flowering plant that grows near 15 feet high. Henna grown in hot climates contains more dye pigment and produces the best quality henna when grown in a 45-degree Celsius + environment. The stain that is achievable from a good quality henna sourced from hot and dry climates will stain the skin the darkest and last the longest.
How is henna different to tinting?
Aside from being a naturally derived product Henna does not require an oxidizing agent to penetrate the cortex and deposit colour into the hair.
Instead Henna acts to coat the hair with the colour, smoothing the outer layers of the brow hairs giving the appearance of thicker and darker hair.
What is the difference between Eyebrow Henna and Eyebrow Tint on your menu?
With the Tint, I use a traditional dye and peroxide mixture and it is designed to only tint the hairs, not the skin. Henna will not only dye the hairs but will leave a stain (for approx. up to 2 weeks) on the skin behind the brow, giving the brow a fuller and filled in look. In terms of longevity, Tint lasts up to 4 weeks on the hair, Henna can last 6-7 weeks on the hair.
How do I know which one I might want to book?
If you are someone who does not normally wear any brow cosmetics (or very little) and prefers a subtler look to your brows, then start with the Eyebrow Tint.
If you are accustomed to a very defined and filled in eyebrow and like a richer colour, go with the Eyebrow Henna.
A Patch Test is recommended for the first time using Henna.
Can Henna be used on the lashes as well?
No, Henna is not safe or suitable for lashes. But fret not, we have awesome lash tint for that!
If I want Henna, does it matter whether I book Eyebrow Tint or Eyebrow Henna?
YES!!!! It DOES matter. In terms of length of service, these are not interchangeable. The Henna service takes longer. So please be sure to select the correct service when booking.
